Vestas is laying off again in West Jutland

Increased demand in the USA shifts wind turbine hub production from Ringkøbing to Colorado

Last December, Vestas announced that approximately 200 positions would be laid off at the group's factory in Ringkøbing. Now, the wind turbine manufacturer is set to cut an additional 54. This news is reported by Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern.

- As part of the increased demand and order intake for Vestas’ V163-onshore turbine in the USA, Vestas is in the process of expanding its production in Colorado, USA. As a result, the majority of the wind turbine hub production from the factory in Ringkøbing will be moved to Colorado. This is expected to affect about 54 hourly production employees in Ringkøbing, says press officer Claes Lautrup Cunliffe to Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern

However, he emphasizes that Vestas will still have a significant presence in Ringkøbing with the production of nacelles, hubs, and drivetrains for 4 MW and 6 MW turbines. After the reductions, the factory will have about 350 employees.

Claes Lautrup Cunliffe adds that efforts will be made to redeploy some of the affected employees, possibly to the group's factory in Lem, where Vestas is currently scaling up.
