Test of Danish nuclear reactor raises concerns

Copenhagen Atomics has received permission to conduct the first critical test of a thorium molten salt reactor on European soil

By the end of 2026, Copenhagen Atomics is scheduled to test a prototype of one of their nuclear reactors. The test marks the first critical test ever of a thorium molten salt reactor on European soil.

"After a decade of development, Copenhagen Atomics has advanced the technology to the point where it is ready for real-world testing. This test validates the extensive simulations performed on the reactor, bringing us closer to a fully operational commercial reactor," Copenhagen Atomics states in a newsletter, calling it the most significant deal in the company's 10-year history.
