Energinet strengthens its preparedness with a new director position

On Friday, the new law on strengthened preparedness in the energy sector will come into effect.
For Energinet, this means the creation of an entirely new position in the executive team.
Jim Terndrup will take up the newly created role of Vice Director on May 1, 2025. He will also serve as CSO (Chief Security Officer) and head the Security and Emergency Preparedness division at Energinet, as stated in a press release.
The new legislation requires, among other things, that management teams acquire knowledge and expertise in risk and vulnerability management.
Jim Terndrup comes from a position as head of physical security at Danske Bank.
"Significant capacity building"
Energinet highlights that the geopolitical situation, with an increased hybrid threat landscape, is constantly shifting boundaries and, therefore, the requirements for Energinet’s ability to protect and restore assets and locations critical to Denmark's electricity and gas supply.
Additionally, Energinet must comply with new regulations in connection with the adoption of the preparedness law.
- This is relevant and ambitious legislation that aims to significantly strengthen security in the energy sector, both physically and digitally, says Signe Horn Rosted, Chief Technology Officer at Energinet.
Energinet states that it is looking at significant capacity building in its emergency preparedness and security efforts in the coming years.
